Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) also know as ultimate fighting or Caged fighting is seem by many as the ultimate combination of all fighting disciplines. It mixes boxing, judo, karate, and many other styles that have been developed over the years to formalise unarmed combat. It has risen, in America, to almost rival boxing in popularity with millions of dollars made in ticket sails and live TV fights on subscription channels, it is seen as a growing entertainment.
Perhaps its popularity is bases on a social need for violence. Cage fighters gain the benefits of self-discipline and a controlled release of aggression. The public by proxy also for fill the need for a contained release of violence and tension. Wither violence has a place or should have a more standardised place in society is an argument for sociologists, physiologists and individuals who’s lives it most affects.
