Dartmoor, created as a National Park in 1951, is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is acknowledged also for its scientific and historical importance. For today's visitors it provides opportunities for experiencing real wilderness and peace that is hard to find in a crowded modern world.
Landscapes photographed as I find them, with what I hope is a kind of honesty that seems to be frustratingly lacking in modern landscapes of this kind.
For me these images represent my own exploration of the convergence of nature with a man influenced landscape and a history of habitation that stretches back hundreds of years.
Theses images also reflect a personal connection and an innate empathy with the environment. I am a strong believer that the Environments and Landscapes in which we grow in are part of us, shaping our personality and perspectives on life.
Identity, beauty in the banal or overlooked, and new ways of considering of our own identity, sit at the base of this project and the core of my continuing practice.
